It can import data, execute SQL and output the result in a one-liner, without needing any temporary database files along the way. The new sqlite-utils memory command ( full documentation here) operates against a temporary, in-memory SQLite database. This week I realized that I had most of the pieces in place to reduce this to a single step. Using SQL to re-shape data is really useful-since sqlite-utils can output in multiple different formats, I frequently find myself loading in a CSV file and exporting it back out as JSON, or vice-versa. Processing data with this involves two steps: first import it into a temp.db file, then use sqlite-utils query to run queries and output the results. Sqlite-utils already offers a mechanism for importing CSV and JSON data into a SQLite database file, in the form of the sqlite-utils insert command. I’ve recorded this video demonstrating the new feature-with full accompanying notes below. You can install it using brew install sqlite-utils or pip install sqlite-utils. The new feature is part of sqlite-utils 3.10, which I released this morning. The new sqlite-utils memory command can import CSV and JSON data directly into an in-memory SQLite database, combine and query it using SQL and output the results as CSV, JSON or various other formats of plain text tables. In the first time I resorted to create a database on PostgreSQL and import the CSV file into it, but after that I never remember the CSV import syntax and it still requires a daemon running just for that. The problem is that q isn’t that straightforward to install, as apparently it is not available via apt nor pip, nor one is able to easily change the data once it’s imported, like in a regular database. When facing this issue, at first I thought about using harelba/q to query the CSV files directly in the command line. ![]() While it’s true that most of the users of this report are used to deal with CSV files, be them developers or accountants experts in handling spreadsheets, this is definitely not the most user-friendly way of offering insights into billing data. ![]() The only problem is that the generated report is a CSV file, shifting the responsibility of filtering and visualizing data to the user. The ratio of D/G peak is around 0.4, indicating that while a continuous graphene film could be grown directly on sapphire substrates using CVD, a limited graphene grain size and non-negligible defect density featured by the D peak were still present in the graphene film. The Raman spectrum of the sample is shown in Fig. In-plane gate transistors with standalone grapheneįor demonstrating the feasibility of 2D materials on the architecture of in-plane gate transistors (IPGTs), a graphene film grown directly on sapphire substrates is prepared. A field-effect mobility of the device similar to that from Hall measurements indicates that the device performance is well maintained using in-plane gates. The MoS 2 passivation can effectively isolate the graphene channel from the environment. In this way, the electrode metal would contact the graphene channel directly. To further improve the device performances, we utilized atomic layer etching (ALE) technique to remove the MoS 2 beneath the source/drain electrodes. IPGTs with a 300 nm gate-channel separation were fabricated on the MoS 2/graphene film using the e-beam lithography. In this work, we fabricated and characterized in-plane gate transistors (IPGTs) based on molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2)/graphene hetero-structure 25, 26, 27. Together with in-plane gates, the 2D channel passivated by epitaxially grown 2D materials may exhibit optimized performances. Nevertheless, the results still demonstrated that a less conductive 2D material may act as the passivation layer for the 2D channel. However, due to the high growth temperatures of h-BN, sequential mechanical exfoliations of different 2D materials instead of epitaxial growth are usually adopted for such hetero-structures, which may introduce additional contaminations to the 2D material interfaces. Similar to being interfacial layers on the SiO 2, h-BN is also adopted as the passivation layers to 2D material devices 23, 24. Without extra chemical bonding, passivation based on another 2D material may bring the least impact to the 2D channel. A passivation layer is still necessary to protect the channel from environments. Water or oxygen molecules in air may attach to the 2D channel and degrade the device performance. However, without top covering, the channel is exposed to the atmosphere. This device architecture may lower the influence of dielectric/2D-material interfaces on 2D channels. In previous works, it has been shown that transistors with in-plane gates can be realized on compound semiconductors 21, 22. The other possible solution may be the adoption of different device architecture without dielectric/2D-material interfaces. Due to the atomically flat surface and wide bandgap value of h-BN, superior device performances are obtained for such bottom-gate graphene transistors 19, 20. One possible approach to solve this problem is to use dielectric 2D materials such as hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) as the interface layers to the SiO 2 dielectrics. ![]() Since the top gate scheme is the most common device architecture adopted for field-effect transistors (FETs) in industry, a poor dielectric/2D-material interface can easily degrade the performance of thin 2D transistors 16, 17, 18. With an active region down to nanoscale, little room is left for 2D channels vertically. ![]() However, the characteristics of thin body also hinder the practical usage of 2D materials. On the hand, since the unique material characteristics of 2D materials can be observed in a few atomic layers, devices with ultra-thin bodies can be fabricated on these materials, making them a promising candidate for advanced electronics with reduced linewidth 12, 13, 14, 15. Despite its zero-bandgap nature, the high mobility of the first discovered 2D material, graphene, have demonstrated its potential in the application of radio-frequency devices 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. The high mobility and bright luminescence of two-dimensional (2D) materials are their major advantages in device applications 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. ![]() You can find more information about the available formatting codes in the MATLAB documentation. ![]() You can use a variety of formatting codes with fprintfIncluding codes for printing integers, floating-point numbers, and strings, as well as codes for controlling the output's alignment, width, and precision. The %f formatting code in the format string tells fprintf to print the value of x as a floating-point number, and the %s formatting code tells it to print the value of y as a string. To return multiple pieces of formatted text as a string array or a cell array of character vectors, use the compose function. If formatSpec is a string, then so is the output str. This code will print the following text to the command window: Copy code The value of x is 3.141590 and the value of y is Hello, world!. The sprintf function formats the values in A1.,An in column order. These values can be variables or literals, and they will be inserted into the format string in place of the corresponding formatting codes.įor example, consider the following code: x = 3.14159 įprintf('The value of x is %f and the value of y is %s.\n', x, y) part of the syntax represents one or more values that you want to print. Fields of the Formatting Operator A formatting operator can have six fields, as shown in the figure. The write operation is synchronous and blocks the command line until execution is complete. Functions that support formatting operators are compose, num2str, sprintf, fprintf, and the error handling functions assert, error, warning, and MException. Here, format_string is a string that specifies the format of the text to be printed. fprintf (obj,'cmd') writes the string cmd to the device connected to obj. It is likely worth upgrading to get these and other enhancements to various functions. The basic syntax for the fprintf function is: fprintf(format_string, A. For the last few MATLAB versions, the round function has had a number of new options added to it, one of which is Round Elements to Specified Number of Significant Digits. It is similar to the disp function, but allows you to specify the format of the text that is printed. To 'place' a number into this string of printed characters we use. The fprintf function prints an array of characters to the screen: fprintf ('Happy Birthday ') We often use the fprintf statement to show the user information stored in our variables.
